In the News: Following is the letter from Mr. P. D. Lal to Editors of the Ledger-Enquirer was published on July 13, 2002. Worrying problems Worrying is causing many problems these days. People worrying for trivial things. When we worry, think, "Just how much worry is this worth?" Our resources are limited; our time is limited. It is easy that we can put too much of our limited resources in the wrong things. You need energy for more important things. It is said that worries will cause people to age more than work. Work does not hurt the mind, but the mental process known as worry definitely injures it. After constant worrying, our nervous system becomes exhausted and becomes irritable. Worry is the process of repeating the same train of thought again and again, having no result or solution. Let, then, a person who is suffering from worry, give three to four minutes in the morning, on rising, to generate some noble thought. Think, "The self is peace"; "I am the self"; the self is undying, unchanging, fearless, free from all modifications. He will then realize how mistakenly regards worry as himself. Another method of getting rid of worry is meditation. Meditation is an adventure of peace. Meditation opens the door of the mind. It clears the clogging of ignorance around mind, when mind opens then infinite delight and peace will enter in our mind. A meditating mind is like an ocean, where thoughts emerge like a wave but die on the surface. If person did not get rid of worry, then we will embrace depression, which will be the cause of all illness. P.D. LAL, Columbus
